Job Description

Core Responsibilities

• Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons aligned with early learning standards (New York State Prekindergarten Learning Standards).
• Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment.
• Teach basic skills such as early literacy, math concepts, and social-emotional development.
• Use play-based learning and hands-on activities.
• Observe and assess children’s development and progress.
• Maintain records and prepare reports on student growth.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about progress and concerns.
• Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques.

Daily Tasks

• Lead circle time, storytelling, and group activities
• Supervise playtime (indoor and outdoor)
• Assist with meals and routines (snack, bathroom, transitions)
• Adapt lessons for different learning needs
• Collaborate with teacher assistants and other staff

Job Qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Teaching certification 
• Knowledge of child development principles
• CPR/First Aid certification (sometimes required)
